The police will on Monday conduct an on-site investigation at a building which suffered extensive damage during a fire on Sunday morning, Larnaca police spokesman Christodoulos Konsolos said.
He explained that the fire had broken out at around 3.40am in the building on Larnaca’s Mehmet Ali Street, which was abandoned, and that the fire brigade eventually managed to bring the fire under control.
He added that the building belongs to the Turkish Cypriot property management service and had previously been used by the Larnaca municipality as a fine arts school.
However, he said, when the police initially attempted to investigate the scene, “it was not possible … due to the high heat and continuous rekindlings”.
As such, investigations are set to continue at the building on Monday morning.
