The public works department announced on Wednesday that a section of the Limassol-Nicosia motorway will be closed overnight on Thursday due to maintenance work.

The closure will affect the stretch near Kotsiatis in Nicosia, with traffic redirected to the opposite carriageway, which will operate in both directions.

The roadworks will begin at 9pm on March 20 and continue until 5.30am on March 21. The repairs involve removing and resurfacing the road surface. During this time, all three lanes heading towards Nicosia will be closed for approximately three kilometres.

As a result, vehicles travelling towards Nicosia will be diverted to the Limassol-bound lanes, which will function with two-way traffic. The entry and exit ramps to Kotsiatis will also be shut, with access to the area redirected via the old Limassol-Nicosia road.

The police have urged drivers to be cautious, adhere to temporary road signs, maintain a safe speed, and keep a proper distance from other vehicles. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes where possible.
