Cyprus’ Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) activated the “Nearchos” national rescue plan twice on Saturday following reports of individuals in distress off the coasts of Amathus and Limassol.
In a statement on Sunday, the JRCC said that on Saturday afternoon, the centre activated the ‘Nearchos’ search and rescue plan twice, after receiving information about two individuals in danger—one in the Amathus sea area and another off Limassol.
A helicopter and marine police vessel were dispatched to investigate. After locating the individuals in question, the rescue teams remained in the area until they safely reached the shore, JRCC said.
