A car was “extensively damaged” after catching fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning, fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said.

In a social media post, he said the fire brigade was made aware of the fire at around 4.46am, and that two fire engines attended the scene.

He said the car was parked in the yard of a house in the northern Larnaca suburb of Livadia, and that two vehicles nearby were also “slightly affected by the fire and the heat”.

The fire was put out, with Kettis saying its potential causes will be investigated by both the fire brigade and the police.
