A 16-year-old boy was arrested by police on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the arson of a stolen moped, which occurred on March 31.

The moped was found ablaze at around 6.30am on March 31, in an open field in a village in the Nicosia district.

Fire service and police officers who examined the scene concluded that the fire had been set deliberately. Further investigation revealed that the moped had been stolen earlier that night from Ayios Dhometios area in Nicosia.

Following his arrest, the 16-year-old was formally charged in writing and subsequently released. He is expected to be summoned to appear in court at a later date.
