A vehicle was completely destroyed in the Larnaca area at around 3am on Saturday by a fire that appears to have been started maliciously.

“From the initial examinations carried out by members of the police, evidence emerged that this was arson,” police said in a statement, adding that the scene remained under guard for further examination.

The fire had broken out in the car of a 43-year-old man, parked in the parking lot of an apartment building. By the time firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames, the vehicle was already completely destroyed.

Investigations into the case continue.
