An 18-year-old man accused of attacking an elderly woman and her daughter in the village of Tremithousa was arrested on Tuesday.

The incident happened at 4pm on Monday, when the teen reportedly assaulted an 81-year-old woman and her 63-year-old daughter.

Police said the elderly woman suffered serious injuries during the attack.

She was taken to A&E at Paphos general hospital where she was detained for treatment.

A court had issued an arrest warrant against him.

He now faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm, injuring two people and committing malicious damage.

Preliminary investigations indicate a dispute arose over how the two women were driving.

According to police, a confrontation between the individuals appears to have taken place before the attack.
