President Nikos Christodoulides will travel to Sarajevo on Thursday for a working visit as Cyprus prepares to assume the presidency of the council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.
During his time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Christodoulides will meet the Chairwoman of the country’s Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, and the other two members, Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović. The meetings are scheduled for Thursday midday and will be followed by extended talks between delegations from both nations.
An official lunch will be hosted by the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in honour of the Cypriot president. Later that afternoon, President Christodoulides will travel to Tirana, Albania. There, on Friday, he will take part in the European political community summit.
He is expected to join roundtable discussions and deliver a statement during a session titled “An Open Europe with Secure Borders.”
On the sidelines of the summit, President Christodoulides will hold a bilateral meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The talks will focus on Cyprus’ upcoming EU council presidency and Albania’s EU accession path.
The president is set to return to Cyprus on Friday evening. Accompanying him on the trip are government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, deputy minister for European affairs Marilena Raouna, diplomatic office director Doros Venezis, and other officials.
