A 35-year-old man from Paphos was arrested on Wednesday evening after being found to be in possession of large quantities of cannabis, which were kept in his vehicle, in his home, and in another property he manages.
The police attempted to pull the man over while he was driving his car through the town, but he attempted to escape, crashing into two police vehicles before eventually being brought to a stop.
A search of his car turned up a travel bag, which contained just over 10 kilograms of dry cannabis plant material.
The man was arrested, with a further search of his vehicle turning up around half a gram of a white powder which is believed to be cocaine.
The police then carried out a search of his home and of another property he manages, finding just over 2.5kg of dry cannabis plant matter.
In total, exactly 12.55kg of cannabis were found.
After his arrest, he appeared in court on Thursday morning. There, a police representative said the man had admitted that he was responsible for the storage and safekeeping of the drugs, and that they had been supplied to him by persons he did not name in exchange for €100 per kg.
He was remanded in custody for eight days.
