A joint proposal for a European programme involving the Ayia Napa-Caramella Carnival, the Patras Carnival, and the Putignano Carnival of Italy has been submitted by the Municipality of Paralimni-Dherynia.
A press release issued by the Municipality said the “the proposal titled ‘Mediterranean Exchange & Development Initiative for Carnival Arts, Rituals, Narratives And Vibrant Authentic Life’ and abbreviated as ‘Medicarnaval’ was submitted under the Creative Europe Culture Cooperation Small Scale Projects 2025 programme.
The proposal aims to create a network of carnival cities around the Mediterranean, facilitating knowledge exchange, cross-border cultural collaboration, joint artistic content creation, and promoting carnival culture at a European level.”
Through this collaboration, “the cities will have the opportunity to strengthen their position on the European cultural map, adopt modern promotion and organization tools, and develop joint strategies for managing and showcasing their local traditions”, the Municipality added.
