Trade union Isotita has opposed the content of the revised plan for the evaluation of teachers, prepared by the education ministry and set to be passed by the cabinet on Tuesday, and said that it will put it to a referendum among its members on May 27.
Isotita said the new plan was slightly different from its previous version and, although it welcomed the ministry’s intention to improve the evaluation system, the plan did not meet the demands of the trade union.
“The voice of the teaching world has been ignored,” Isotita said.
According to Isotita, the revised plan did not solve long-standing problems, instead it presented old ideas in “a new wrapping”.
The trade union rejected the plan and called on the ministry to enter a substantive dialogue.
If the plan is rejected by the trade union’s referendum, then Isotita will call on the ministry not to take the revised plan to parliament but continue to discuss mutual solutions.
The proposal, first presented in early February, is set to be approved by the cabinet on Tuesday.
