Court proceedings against former Transport Minister Marios Demetriades in the Anastasiades government and other individuals, over the golden passport scandal, were postponed on Wednesday till June 4.

The case was scheduled for Wednesday morning before the Nicosia criminal court, when the defendants were to answer to charges.

A total of eight individuals and two legal entities are facing 59 charges, including bribery, corruption, money laundering, conspiracy to defraud and violating the Council of Europe convention on criminalising corruption.

Andreas Demetriades, Demetris Demetriades, George Demetriades, Eleni Simillidi, Jing Wang, Josef Friedrich Santin, Vasiliki Georgiou-Santin, Andreas Demetriades & Co LLC and Delsk (Cyprus) Business Services Ltd also stand accused.

On Wednesday, the defence requested more details regarding the witness material, specifically telecommunication data and testimonies.

The prosecutor asked for a week to reply to the details requested.

The court approved the request to postpone the proceedings and the next hearing for 11am on June 4.
