Three men aged 30, 39 and 41 have been remanded in custody for eight days in connection with a string of house burglaries in Paphos.

The suspects appeared at Paphos court on Sunday, facing accusations of burglary, theft, unlawful possession of property, and handling stolen goods.

According to Paphos deputy police operations chief Michalis Nikolaou, a 46-year-old woman reported on May 22 that her home had been broken into and items worth around €4,500 were stolen, including her mobile phone.

Two days later, on May 24, the woman tracked her mobile phone’s GPS signal to a flat in Paphos. Police officers carried out a search at the location, where they found two of the suspects, aged 30 and 41.

Inside the flat, officers discovered electronic devices, bicycles, watches and bags. The suspects were unable to explain how they came into possession of the items and were arrested on the spot for unlawful possession of property.

The third man, aged 39, who lives with the other two, was arrested later under a court warrant.

Police say some of the stolen items have already been identified by victims of burglaries reported in Paphos on May 12 and 16.

The Paphos criminal investigation department is continuing its investigation.
