A 42-year-old man was arrested for illegally transporting eight lambs through the buffer zone around midnight on Wednesday.

According to police, surveillance spotted a truck moving suspiciously along the buffer zone during a motorised patrol in Nicosia.

“When the truck left the buffer zone and entered the Republic, it was immediately stopped by members of the police, and during the investigation that followed, it was found that the truck was transporting eight lambs without the documentation required by law,” the police stated.

The driver of the truck was immediately arrested and taken into custody.

The case is being investigated by the Latsia police in cooperation with the customs department due to the jurisdiction of the crime.
