Low-income pensioners can as of Wednesday apply for holiday grants covering full accommodation in mountain resorts and hotels in Pyrgos Tyllirias, the labour ministry announced.
The scheme, approved by the cabinet on May 28, offers eligible pensioners a fully paid three-night stay, either from Friday to Monday or Tuesday to Friday.
It will run in two phases: from June 6 to July 28 and from September 2 to October 31.
Eligible pensioners are those receiving the ‘small cheque’, the minimum guaranteed income, up to €15,500 annual income for one person or up to €20,000 annually for families. Dependants of eligible pensioners are also covered under the scheme’s provisions.
According to the labour ministry, the programme operates on a first-come, first-served basis. However, during the first week of applications, priority will be given to pensioners who did not participate in the scheme last year.
The ministry is working with Orthodoxou Travel to implement the programme.
Applications can be submitted online here or be sent by email to [email protected]
