Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna paid a working visit to Rome on Wednesday, in the context of preparations for Cyprus EU Presidency, in the first half of 2026.

She met with the Italian Minister for European Affairs Tommaso Foti, as well as with the Chairman of the EU Policies Committee of the Italian Senate, Giulio Terzi.

According to a statement by the Secretariat of the Cyprus Presidency, during the meeting with Foti, Raouna informed him on the progress of preparations for the EU Presidency. They also discussed important issues of common interest as Mediterranean member states, which will be addressed during Cyprus’ six-month Presidency.

Raouna also briefed him on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as the progress in the process for Cyprus’ full integration into Schengen treaty.

In the meeting with Senator Terzi, Rauna discussed issues of common interest , developments in the Middle East, migration and the New Pact for the Mediterranean.

On Thursday the Cyprus Deputy Minister will hold contacts in Paris.
