A group of Cypriot students in Ioannina has appealed to the transport ministry and several airlines – including Sky Express, Cyprus Airways, Wizz Air, Ryanair, Aegean Airlines, and Tus Airways – calling for the introduction of direct flights between Larnaca and Ioannina.
According to the group, around 400 Cypriot students are currently studying in the northwestern Greek city. They say a direct air link would significantly ease their travel burden, as they are currently forced to fly to Athens first and then take a connecting flight to Ioannina.
In addition to the inconvenience of multiple flights, the students also highlighted the financial strain of the extended journey. They proposed the introduction of discounted fares specifically for Cypriot students to help make the route more affordable.
