A 39-year-old man from Paphos was arrested Thursday morning after hitting another man with a metal chain after being involved in a road traffic collision.
According to the police, the man was driving through the Paphos district village of Chlorakas at around 10pm on Wednesday, when he attempted to overtake another car.
However, the two vehicles collided with one another, and the 39-year-old then brought his vehicle to a stop in front of the other car.
He and his passenger, a 36-year-old man, got out of the car and walked towards the other car, with the driver holding a metal chain and his passenger holding a metal pipe.
Sensing the danger, the driver of the other car, a 34-year-old man, attempted to escape by reversing away, but crashed his car into a nearby house.
Once the pair had caught up to the vehicle, they reportedly began hitting the 34-year-old with the pipe and the chain on his arm and leg, while also reportedly “threatening” him.
The 34-year-old reported bruises on his leg, while one of his two passengers, a 40-year-old man, was admitted to the Paphos general hospital after being injured when the car reversed into the house.
A third passenger in the car, a 46-year-old man, was unharmed.
The 39-year-old was arrested at around 1.30am on Thursday.
The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
