The 27-year-old man who died in a house fire in the Limassol suburb of Ypsonas was identified as Syrian national Musab Alismail, the police said on Sunday.

Alismail was found unconscious in the bedroom of the house by firefighters after the fire had been put out.

He was then taken to the Limassol general hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police investigations into the fire have deduced that it appears to have started from its kitchen stove and spread to its wooden ceiling.

The house’s three other inhabitants were all absent at the time of the fire.

The exact causes of Alismail’s death ill be determined by an autopsy, which the police say will be performed “at a later stage”.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
