A quad bike was completely destroyed by fire in Ayia Napa at around 02.45am on Monday, with police launching an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze and identify the vehicle’s owner.
According to police, the four-wheeled motorbike was found overturned and engulfed in flames in an open field, roughly 150 metres from a nearby road.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire, but the vehicle was left entirely burnt out.
Officers from the Famagusta police department carried out an initial investigation at the scene and in the surrounding area. The site remains under police guard.
Further examinations are scheduled to take place today to clarify the circumstances of the fire and trace the owner of the vehicle.
Police have not yet confirmed whether the fire was accidental or the result of foul play.
