The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) released a statement on Wednesday summarising its participation in the Investopia Global Mediterranean Forum, which took place in Limassol this week.

“The chamber took part in the Investopia Global Mediterranean Forum with substantial and multifaceted participation,” the announced said.

“This was the first time the international business forum took place in Cyprus,” it added.

“In the margins of the Forum, the chamber organised an official networking event on Monday, June 9, attended by UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Cyprus Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou,” the chamber explained.

“This event served as a meeting point for top representatives of the business and investment world from Cyprus, the UAE and other countries in the region,” it noted.

“The gathering further strengthened the chamber’s role as a catalyst for international economic cooperation,” it added.

“During the main programme of Investopia, the chamber’s president, Stavros Stavrou, participated as a keynote speaker in the panel titled ‘Investment Frontiers: Connecting Markets Across the UAE and Mediterranean’,” the announcement continued.

“In his remarks, Stavrou presented Cyprus as a strategic gateway for investments from the UAE to Europe and neighbouring markets in the Eastern Mediterranean,” it said.

“He highlighted the country’s comparative advantages, including its geopolitical position, tax stability, business-friendly environment and the new investment attraction tools included in the national Vision 2035 plan,” Keve stated.

The chamber further mentioned that Stavrou “also stressed the opportunities for cooperation with UAE investment entities in sectors such as energy, renewables, technology, tourism development and real estate”.

Meanwhile, the chamber’s secretary-general, Philokypros Roussounides, moderated a high-level discussion titled ‘Bridging Prosperity: Unlocking GCC–Eastern Mediterranean Synergies’.

“This session included the participation of the UAE Minister of Economy and Cyprus Minister of Energy,” the chamber said.

“The discussion focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in strategic sectors,” it explained.

“It underscored the need for new models of joint investments and regional convergence,” Keve added.

Keve also stated that its participation in the Investopia Global Mediterranean Forum “highlighted its role as the principal institutional representative of the Cypriot business community and a reliable partner on the international investment stage”.

“With responsibility and strategic direction, the chamber continues to lead efforts to promote Cyprus as a regional hub for entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable development,” the announcement concluded.
