Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou on Friday met with representatives of the municipalities of Famagusta, Ayia Napa, and Paralimni-Deryneia to discuss key issues raised by local communities.

“The reason for the visit to the Famagusta chamber of commerce was a request to discuss various issues of concern to them and on this occasion meetings were arranged with the municipalities of Paralimni-Deryneia and Ayia Napa,” Ioannou said.

During the meeting, the minister and the representatives discussed various issues related to licensing, development, industrial zones and housing policy.

Paralimni-Deryneia mayor Giorgos Nikolettos highlighted several challenges facing the area, particularly regarding regional development in both rural and tourist zones, as well as the overall well-being of residents.

“There are many issues to address with the minister, as the challenges of local government reform are significant,” Nikolettos said.

He stressed that the municipality needs greater support from the government to implement its development plans.

“We are working tirelessly, but we also need the backing of the central government to turn our visions and plans into reality,” he concluded.
