A cruise ship passenger was airlifted to the Limassol general hospital on Sunday night after falling ill aboard the ship, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) said on Monday.
Upon receiving the alert regarding an unwell patient aboard the ship, the JRCC activated its “Nearchos” plan to coordinate a rescue mission at around 7.50pm on Sunday.
The ship was sailing south of Limassol, and a Cyprus Air Force helicopter with a “specialised nurse” on board was mobilised to meet it, recover the passenger, and transfer him to Limassol.
The man arrived at the Limassol general hospital at around 9.20pm.
