The former mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis died suddenly on Monday aged 60.

Pyrillis served as mayor of the town from 2011 to July 2024.

Political parties issued their condolences and paid tribute to the former mayor.

A member of opposition Disy, the party said in a statement that Pyrillis had “served public life and local government with dedication and consistency”.

He had also been president of the Disy Paralimni Local Committee, a member of the Famagusta District Secretariat and a member of the Democratic Rally Political Bureau.

“His contribution to the party and the country was multifaceted and substantial,” Disy said.

During his 12 years as Paralimni mayor “he worked with vision and determination”.
