An injured person was rescued on Wednesday afternoon after falling into the sea in the area of the Ayia Napa sea caves, it was announced on Thursday.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre activated Nearchos national plan, sending a port police speedboat, specialised crew and an ambulance to the scene.
The injured individual was taken to Ayia Napa marina and then by ambulance to the Famagusta general hospital.
In light of the incident, the JRCC reminds the public that approaching and diving at the sea caves site in Cape Greco is “strictly prohibited”.
The Geological Survey Department has deemed the ground dangerous due to erosion.
