A €3,070 was issued against a 65-year-old man caught with a net in the Paphos area, police said on Friday.

The man was arrested in a Turkish Cypriot village in Paphos and subsequently taken to a police station where he paid a fine.

In addition to the net, eight goldfinches that have since been released were also found in the 65-year-old’s possession.

The species is protected.
