A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of an 18-year-old, who was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Paralimni on Saturday night.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 8.15pm when officers received information about an injured person in the area.
Police arrived at the scene and found the 18-year-old had been attacked and seriously wounded. The assailant fled immediately after the assault.
The victim was initially taken to Famagusta general hospital, where doctors determined he had suffered a serious stab wound.
He was later transferred to Nicosia general hospital, where he remains under treatment. Doctors described his condition as stable and fair.
During investigations, evidence emerged linking the 23-year-old to the crime. He was located by a police patrol around 8.45pm in Paralimni and was arrested for causing a public disturbance disturbance, and breach of the peace after shouting as officers approached him.
Subsequently, a court warrant was issued for his re-arrest on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been placed in custody and an eight-day remand order was issued against the suspect on Sunday while the Famagusta police department continues its investigations.
