A fire raged on Thursday morning in Kyrenia district in the north, burning a forested area. It was later brought under control.

Turkish Cypriot media said the blaze was in Tziklos area, at the height of Pentadaktylos mountain range, on the road from Nicosia to Kyrenia.

The road had been temporarily closed to traffic and firefighters remain in the area.

A helicopter also assisted firefighters.
