A protest march will be held in Nicosia on Saturday September 13 to raise awareness about the situation in Gaza. The demonstration is organised by the Cyprus peace council and is scheduled to begin at 5.30pm at Eleftheria Square.
In its announcement, the council said the march will focus on famine, the humanitarian crisis and the loss of civilian lives in Gaza. Political parties, organisations and civic groups in Cyprus have been invited to attend.
The call for protest comes as international agencies, including the United Nations, continue to report food shortages, limited medical supplies and restrictions on civilian life in the territory.
Israel rejects claims of genocide and says its actions target Hamas, which it considers a terrorist organisation. Israeli officials state that restrictions are linked to security concerns and cross-border attacks.
The Cyprus peace council said it expects the march to deliver a strong public message about the crisis.
