Clinching one of the most important gold medals in its history, Cyprus has returned triumphantly from the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI 2025), hosted in Bonn, Germany. Secondary school pupil Mariza Paspalli stood at the very top of the podium this year, bestowing on Cyprus a distinction that carried a message of hope and opportunity in Informatics for the new generations.

At her side were Selina Arkatiti, Marina Georgiou and Elisavet Dimopoulou, forming a strong team under the supervision of teachers Hara Skouteli and Sotiroula Yasoumi. All participants gave their very best, representing the country with integrity and a high level of knowledge.

Supporting their journey has been XM, which consistently backs the Cyprus Olympiad in Informatics and every effort to highlight new talent. Via initiatives that promote equality in education and access to technology, XM provides a platform for girls who stand out.

“The gold medal is not merely a victory, it is a symbol of progress, excellence and inspiration for the younger generations,” noted Constantina Stylianou, XM’s head of CSR.

“We warmly congratulate the team on their outstanding achievement and we are especially proud of their success,” she continued. “At XM we remain committed to providing young people with the resources and opportunities they need to write their own story of success. A heartfelt thank you also goes to the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS), whose tireless work supports and promotes the talents of our country.”

Cyprus is now preparing for further participation in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and the Balkan Olympiad (BOI). In October, the island will host the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (jBOI 2025) for the first time, confirming its role as a dynamic hub for talent development in Europe.

Ultimately, the brilliance of Paspalli’s gold medal not only illuminates her personal success, but also the path opening up for all young women who dream of success in Informatics.

As the annual technology partner of the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS), XM continues to support initiatives that showcase the talents of our country and open new horizons.

In Cyprus, XM implements an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme, investing in the country’s well-being as well as in key sectors such as education, health and environmental protection.
