A 62-year-old man was rescued by the fire department on Saturday after injuring his leg in a fall in Chionistria, Troodos.

According to fire brigade spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the man, who was visiting the area, sprained his leg and required assistance about 1,100 metres from the sloping mountainous terrain.

He was safely transported to an ambulance and taken to hospital for treatment.
