A woman was found dead in a block of flats in Limassol on Sunday.

According to newspaper Phileleftheros, the woman had suffered “facial injuries”, which indicate that her death “may have been the result of a criminal act”.

Later on Sunday, Limassol police spokesman Lefteris Kyriakou told the newspaper that the police had been informed of the situation by the ambulance service at around 11am, and that the woman’s body is now being examined by forensic doctors, with the aim of discerning the cause of her death.

He added that the woman had lived in the building “for the last few days” and that she shared her flat with other people.

“As you understand, it is very early. We are waiting for the examinations at the scene to be completed,” he said.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
