The autumn months continue to fill the cultural agenda with performances and special happenings. This November, the musicians of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (CySO) will present the Premiere 3 concert series in Nicosia and Larnaca.

Τhe concerts on November 19 (Nicosia) and November 20 (Larnaca) will feature three highly distinguished orchestra musicians.

Violinist Sorin Alexandru Horlea will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s brilliant Violin concerto in E major, which is a vibrant and virtuosic work shaped by Italian influences, particularly the style of Vivaldi.

CySO principal oboist Simeon Spasov together with violinist Constantinos Anastasiades will interpret Bach’s expressive Double concerto for oboe and Violin in D minor, which develops a richly rewarding musical dialogue between the two soloists.

The concert will open with Johann Christian Bach’s Symphony in G minor, op. 6, no. 6, a striking work of emotional depth and drama, infused with the Sturm und Drang style.

The evening will conclude with Joseph Haydn’s Symphony no. 82 in C major, nicknamed ‘The Bear’, brimming with energy, elegance and a finale that playfully evokes the rhythm of a dancing bear.

The musicians will perform under the direction of “one of the most versatile conductors of our time,” as Paul Goodwin is often described.

An internationally renowned expert in historically informed performance, Goodwin will lead the orchestra into a spirited evening of classical music. Passionate about bringing deep period-style insight to modern orchestras, he leads the CySO in a vibrant programme of works by the Bach family and Haydn.
