The Avakas gorge nature trail in the Akamas national forest park will be closed as of Saturday due to forecast rain and thunderstorms.

The Forestry Department said on Friday that the nature trail would be dangerous due to increased water flow, slippery ground, falling rocks and landslides.

The nature trail will remain closed until it is once again safe for visitors.
