United Nations envoy Maria Angela Holguin will meet with President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman to discuss the resumption of negotiations on Tuesday.

Holguin is scheduled to first meet Christodoulides at the Presidential palace at 10am, before meeting Erhurman at 2pm. A joint tripartite meeting has been arranged for on Wednesday, January 28.

Having arrived in Cyprus on Monday, Holguin held preliminary discussions with negotiators from both communities in preparation for the meetings with the two leaders.

Thursday’s meeting is a follow-up to the one held by the leaders on 11 December.

It is expected that Holguin will remain in Cyprus until January 29.

Last week, Christodoulides said that he intended to convene an expanded conference as soon as possible in order to resume talks.
