A 24-year-old woman was on Tuesday sentenced to six years in prison by the Larnaca criminal court after being found guilty of drug trafficking.
The case concerned the importation of cocaine weighing a total of 890g.
Police uncovered the drugs last October after receiving information that a woman arriving on a flight from abroad was concealing narcotics on her body.
The 24-year-old was stopped for inspection shortly after landing at Larnaca airport on October 21, where packages containing 540g of cocaine were found in her possession.
She was arrested and subjected to medical and radiological examinations, which revealed additional packages concealed internally.
While hospitalised, she expelled 35 packets containing a further 350g of cocaine.
On October 28 she was discharged from hospital and remanded in custody by court order while the case was investigated.
On Tuesday morning, the criminal court sentenced her to six years in prison for drug importation.
