Two people have been arrested in Cyprus on terrorism charges, the police confirmed on Friday.

A police representative informed the Cyprus Mail that the pair appeared in court on Friday morning and were both remanded in custody for five days.

The representative said they were unable to provide any further information.

News website Alpha, meanwhile, reported that the pair were both “of Russian descent”, while news website Sigma reported that both had been “allegedly monitoring and photographing points of foreign interest in Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos”.
