The Ierokipia municipality has hired three new municipal traffic officers to strengthen road safety and tackle traffic problems in the area, it said on Tuesday.
The municipal traffic service will now operate in two shifts, morning and afternoon, to improve services to residents and increase its presence on streets.
Over the past month, officers have mainly issued warnings to drivers as part of a public awareness campaign targeting illegal parking and the obstruction of pavements.
The municipality urged drivers to comply with the highway code and follow the instructions of municipal traffic officers to help create a safer and more functional city.
