A 41-year-old man who caused a traffic accident that left a 23-year-old Bulgarian motorcyclist dead in December 2025 was sentenced to two years in prison on Tuesday by the Paphos district court.
The court found him guilty of reckless behaviour, ruling that the accident was his fault.
The 41-year-old collided with the motorcyclist, identified at Petko Svetlozar, at the traffic light controlled junction of Tassos Papadopoulos avenue and Andreas Vlamis street.
Svetlozar was taken to Paphos general hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The 41-year-old was arrested immediately after the accident and was later found to be in Cyprus illegally. He tested positive for drugs but negative for alcohol.
