Acclaimed Cypriot pianist Yiannis Georgiou is about to take over the stages of Cyprus again this March as he is ready to present two solo recitals in Paphos and Nicosia. Treasured masterpieces of the Romantic piano repertoire will sound on Friday at Paphos’ Markideio Theatre and on March 20 at Nicosia’s Pallas Theatre.
Timeless pieces by Schumann, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff will be presented, opening with Robert Schumann’s Kreisleriana, Op. 16, a dramatic and emotionally charged cycle of eight pieces, rich in imagination and contrast.
The second half of the recital includes Brahms’ introspective Piano Pieces, Op. 119, works of remarkable depth and lyricism from the composer’s late period. The evening concludes with selected Études-Tableaux and Preludes by Sergei Rachmaninoff, showcasing his signature blend of sweeping melody and virtuosic brilliance.
Internationally trained and the only Cypriot pianist to have graduated with the prestigious Aspirant Diploma from the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow, Georgiou is renowned for his poetic sensitivity, technical command, and deeply expressive interpretations. Classical music enthusiasts are invited to step into two evenings of refined artistry and timeless musical beauty.
