A fire which broke out on Wednesday afternoon at the technical school of Limassol has been brought under control by the fire brigade.

The blaze, which began in a pile of old electrical appliances within the school’s fenced grounds, extended to an adjacent area covered with a metal canopy containing desks, chairs, and other old equipment.

Firefighters quickly responded, preventing any damage to nearby warehouses.

Fire brigade spokesperson,Andreas Kettis, said the fire was extinguished a short time after it was discovered.

“Members of the fire department entered from two different points, using a number of breathing apparatus and water hoses, and successfully brought the fire under control,” he confirmed.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze in collaboration with the police.

Kettis confirmed that no injuries were reported and that the fire appeared limited to the pile of old equipment.

The school remains operational while the authorities continue their inquiries.
