The Larnaca permanent criminal court sentenced a 35-year-old man from the United States to 12 years in prison for importing 15kg of cannabis.

The man admitted to charges of importing and supplying drugs, as well as impersonation.

The cannabis, divided into 30 packages totaling approximately 15kg, arrived on May 19, 2025, at a private company in Larnaca, triggering intervention by the drug enforcement agency.

The defendant, identified as the intended recipient, collected the package on May 25, 2025, at which point he was arrested.

During his testimony, he stated that he came to Cyprus to receive the drugs and deliver them to unknown individuals for €1,000 per delivery, citing financial difficulties as the reason for acting as an intermediary.
