Police have arrested a 35-year-old woman who was wanted in connection with ongoing burglary and theft investigations, it was reported on Monday.

Officers located the woman at an apartment in Nicosia during enquiries linked to the cases. She was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The 35-year-old owner of the apartment was also arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender.

The woman was found in possession of two small bags containing a crystalline substance believed to be amphetamine and a small amount of dried cannabis, police said.

A search of the apartment uncovered a firearm, the origin of which is under investigation, a shotgun and several electric scooters and bicycles.

Police said the occupants failed to give satisfactory explanations for the items.

Both suspects were taken into custody and are expected to appear before the Nicosia district court on Monday for a remand order.

Police investigations are ongoing.
