At just 25 years old, Cypriot founder Connie Christofi is doing something many people dream about for years: building a fitness movement that blends workouts, music, culture, and community.
After making waves in the Mediterranean with the high-energy Heatwave Fitness Festival, Connie is now turning her attention to the global capital of wellness trends: New York City, with her first event taking place on Saturday, April 4th at 1pm in FiDi NYC.
Her goal? To bring a taste of Europe’s most exciting fitness experience to the city that never sleeps.

From Cyprus to the world’s fitness radar
Born and raised in Cyprus, Connie grew up surrounded by an outdoor lifestyle; beach workouts, sunshine, and a culture where movement and social life naturally go hand in hand.
But she noticed something missing in the traditional fitness world. “Fitness events felt too much like a sales pitch. You would either be given a 20-minute taster of a workout so that they could sell you a gym membership, or you would be put in a room with hundreds of vendors trying to sell you products,” she explains. “That’s not the experience I would want. In the Mediterranean, working out is social; it’s music, energy, people, and community.”
That idea led to the creation of the Heatwave Fitness Festival, an event designed to turn fitness into an experience rather than just another workout. High-intensity training sessions, outdoor workouts, DJs, wellness brands and a festival atmosphere all come together to create a setting where movement meets culture.
A different kind of fitness event
Unlike traditional fitness expos, Heatwave is structured more like a music festival.
Participants move between workouts led by top trainers, recovery zones, wellness activations and social spaces: all set to live music and an energetic crowd.
The concept reflects a growing global trend: fitness that feels more like a lifestyle experience than a typical gym class.
The response so far has been strong. In a short time, Heatwave has attracted major fitness communities and brands, positioning it as one of Europe’s most exciting emerging fitness events.
Why New York?
Now Connie has teamed up with fellow Greeks and Cypriots at the Neolea Network to bring a first taste of the island’s hottest fitness festival to New York City, through the event set for April 4, 2026 in FiDi NYC.
Together, Heatwave and Neolea are introducing the concept in a city known for shaping global trends in fitness, culture, and entrepreneurship. “New York is a city where fitness is thriving, and people are always looking for new experiences,” Connie says. “Cleopatra and Adriana, the founders of Neolea Network, have supported Heatwave from day one. We’ve said this is only the beginning for New York City. On April 4th we’re giving the city a taste of Heatwave, but stay tuned… because the next step is creating a full-scale festival.”
Connie’s aim is to introduce a new type of wellness event inspired by Mediterranean culture; one that blends movement, music, and community in a way that feels less like a workout and more like a celebration.

The Neolea Network – New York
The Neolea Network, founded in 2025 by co-founders Cleopatra Georgiades and Adriana Alavi, has quickly become a vibrant hub for Greek and Cypriot professionals, especially in New York City, where it has staged a number of high-profile gatherings aimed at fostering connection, mentorship and cultural celebration. Their inaugural “Neolea Introduction Luncheon” at Limani NYC bringing together leaders, rising professionals and cultural advocates, set the tone for a new era of curated networking rooted in heritage and purpose.
In early 2026, Neolea partnered with organisations like the Cyprus-US Chamber of Commerce for events such as “Network & Sip” at Highwater Rooftop in Manhattan—an informal mixer designed to connect young Greek and Cypriot professionals and cultivate meaningful relationships across industries.
Cleopatra and Adriana envisioned Neolea as more than a series of social events; it’s a modern cultural and professional platform that blends mentorship, identity, and shared experience. Powered by their shared commitment to strengthening Greek-American and Cypriot-American networks through thoughtfully curated programming, they have emphasised creating spaces where cross- generational dialogue, cultural celebration and professional support coalesce.

A founder to watch
In an industry dominated by large fitness brands, Connie Christofi represents a new generation of founders building community-driven experiences.
And at just 25, she’s just getting started. If her vision succeeds, Heatwave could become one of the most exciting cross-continental fitness events; connecting Europe and the United States through movement, music and Mediterranean energy.
One thing is certain: in New York, things are about to get a little hotter!
