Above-normal rainfall is expected in Cyprus over the next two weeks, the climate watch advisory group of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said on Friday.
The forecast period runs from March 19 to 31.
Weekly precipitation amounts are expected to range between 25 and 75mm, with higher totals possible in exposed areas.
The probability of above-normal rainfall exceeds 90 per cent in the first week and 70-90 per cent in the second.
While this may temporarily improve soil moisture and hydrological conditions, intense rainfall over short periods could cause localised flooding.
The forecast comes as water reserves in Cyprus remain critically low after prolonged drought.
Officials stress that rational water use is still essential, as the expected precipitation is insufficient to restore dam levels fully.
Residents should remember that although rainfall can boost short-term water supply, using water wisely is essential for long-term security across the island.
