The 39-year-old driver of the car involved in a fatal accident with a motorcycle in Strovolos last Thursday, in which a 15-year-old Syrian boy lost his life, was arrested by police on Monday.
According to the police, the man was apprehended pursuant to a court warrant to facilitate further investigations into the circumstances of the incident.
The accident occurred at around 9.15pm, when the 15-year-old, riding with a 17-year-old pillion, collided with a car driven by the 39-year-old on Ifigenias Avenue in the Strovolos district of Nicosia.
The motorcycle then crashed into a parked vehicle, leaving both teenagers injured.
Both were admitted to Nicosia general hospital for treatment, where the 15-year-old succumbed to his injuries.
The 17-year-old remains in the intensive care unit in critical condition.
According to police, examinations revealed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen by its owner on March 9.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
