Eurobank reaffirmed its strategic commitment to the shipping sector by participating as a platinum sponsor at the 2026 keynote annual event of the Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Limassol.
The event, held in Limassol on March 20, brought together key stakeholders from the maritime industry, highlighting the importance of Cyprus as a global shipping hub and its growing international relevance.
The keynote speaker was Amin Toufani, an internationally recognised expert on organisational adaptability, known for his work on artificial intelligence, exponential technologies and innovation strategy.
His presence in Cyprus was described as a rare opportunity for the local market to engage directly with a globally recognised thought leader.
Through his address, Toufani emphasised the critical importance of adaptability for organisations operating in an environment shaped by rapid technological change, geopolitical challenges and the energy transition.
He also provided insights aimed at supporting strategic decision-making in an increasingly complex global landscape.
Speaking during the event, Eurobank senior general manager Stephanos Kassianides underlined the bank’s consistent support for the shipping industry, describing it as a key pillar of the Cypriot economy.
“The shipping sector remains a cornerstone of the Cypriot economy and Cyprus holds a crucial position on the global maritime map,” he explained.
He also referred to the bank’s evolving presence in Cyprus, highlighting the creation of Eurobank Limited through the acquisition and merger of Hellenic Bank with Eurobank Cyprus.
This move was described as the largest investment in the country’s banking sector, leading to the establishment of the largest banking and insurance organisation in Cyprus.
Particular emphasis was placed on Eurobank’s leading role in shipping finance, with the bank offering specialised solutions tailored to the sector’s changing needs.
These solutions are designed to support sustainable growth and enhance competitiveness within the maritime industry.
Eurobank reiterated its intention to continue supporting initiatives that promote dialogue, innovation and international connectivity in Cyprus’ shipping sector.
The bank stated that such efforts contribute to the further strengthening of Cyprus as an international maritime and business centre.
