Conservation work is ongoing at the Panayia Phaneromeni church in the Karpas peninsula village of Gastria, technical committee on cultural heritage co-chairman Sotos Ktoris said on Monday.
“This substantial project is progressing through the substantial cooperation of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, based on mutual respect and our shared commitment to the protection of cultural heritage in Cyprus,” he said.
Gastria was an entirely Greek Cypriot village until 1974, and was resettled by Turkish nationals from the Adana province in the late 1970s.
