Medochemie has today signed a Sponsorship Agreement with the Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC), further strengthening its support for Cypriot athletes and the Committee’s mission.
The signing ceremony took place at the company’s headquarters in Limassol, in the presence of representatives from both organisations, as well as Cypriot athletes.
Welcoming the attendees, Ms Daphne Pitta, Chief Operating Officer of Medochemie, noted that this collaboration holds particular significance, as through the support of the country’s athletes, the company also upholds the values that sport represents. She emphasised that excellence, respect, equality and fair play are values intrinsically linked to Medochemie’s journey and corporate culture. She also expressed her appreciation to the Cyprus Olympic Committee for the longstanding cooperation, as well as to the athletes for their daily efforts, which fill the country with pride.

In his address, the President of the Cyprus Olympic Committee, Mr George Chrysostomou, thanked Medochemie, highlighting that since 1976 the company has been a benchmark in responsibly supporting Cypriot society across all sectors. Our collaboration with Medochemie, he stated, demonstrates in practice that we share the same direction and path, as we are guided by the same principles and values inspired by Olympism. Mr Chrysostomou concluded his remarks by referencing the words of Medochemie’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Dr Andreas Pittas, noting that nothing can be achieved without a clear vision and a strategic approach.
The Chairman of the Athletes’ Committee and Olympic shooter, Mr George Achilleos, referred to the significant support provided by Medochemie to athletes, expressing his sincere appreciation. He underlined that this support extends beyond practical assistance and carries a meaningful psychological dimension, helping athletes remain focused on their goals and strengthening their overall effort.
Alpine skier Yiannos Kouyoumdjian highlighted Medochemie’s longstanding presence alongside the Cyprus Olympic Committee and its athletes, noting that this support enables them to continue striving and making Cyprus proud.
The signing of the agreement is of particular importance as it coincides with Medochemie’s 50th anniversary. Five decades of continuous growth and international presence have established the company as a leading pharmaceutical industry player, consistently investing in health, society and sport, while remaining committed to its core values.
Athletes present at the signing included George Achilleos (Shooting), Petros Michaelides (Athletics), Iosif Kesidis (Athletics), Socrates Pilakouris (Gymnastics) and Yiannos Kouyoumdjian (Skiing), as well as former sailing champion Andreas Kariolou, who has participated in five Olympic Games.
