A total of 12 people were arrested overnight during coordinated patrols across urban areas aimed at preventing serious crime and boosting public safety, authorities said on Wednesday.

Arrests were made across multiple districts.

In Nicosia, two individuals were detained under court warrants for offences including conspiracy, burglary and theft.

In Limassol, three arrests were made, two linked to an attempted murder case and one to domestic violence.

Further arrests included one person in Larnaca for possession of duty-free tobacco products, four in Paphos for offences including possession of burglary tools and drugs, and two in Famagusta for illegal stay and traffic violations.

During the operations, 598 vehicles and 728 individuals were checked, while 42 premises were inspected.

Police issued 317 traffic fines, mainly for speeding, and seized nine vehicles.
